Complete Book of Tarot: When reversed, the Ace of Wands points to problems with starting something new. Perhaps you are lacking in motivation or your creative ideas seem to have dried up. Maybe you have gotten off to a bad start or you are not making the optimal kind of effort to get your project off the ground. You have planted some seeds but they are refusing to sprout. Your creative juices don’t seem to be flowing, and you feel as if you are passing through a barren period. Keep in mind the words of the Sufi poet: This too shall pass.
Complete Book of Tarot: he Wands of the modern tarot owe their origin to the game of polo. As mentioned previously, the Egyptian Mamluk deck from which the tarot derived has four suits: cups, dinari (an ancient coin), scimitars, and polo sticks. The traditional Marseille deck retained the curved blades of the scimitars and called them swords. The Tarot of Marseille also replaced the Mamluk polo sticks with batons or wands, which were more familiar to European culture.
