What is a guided meditation?

A guided meditation uses the power of the mind to visualize a situation, using the thoughts and processes by the innovator to help you progress through a spiritual journey.Guided Meditations

Guided meditations fit perfectly within our Western concept that seems to need a structure and form within an energy or spiritual work. An advantage of this type of meditation is that the mental work activates our inner spirituality and strengthens our ability to communicate with spirit. In other words, what we create with the mind turns to a deeper level in energy work, achieving new depths and more effective results whatever our path.

A variety of meditation techniques are included each producing its own unique experiences and benefits.  In Ayurveda the most important aspect is that of getting a connection with the spiritual side of our being together with the practice of meditation. There are many practices which could be referred to as meditation and most religions include some meditative practices. Buddhist meditation springs a multitude of meditation schools and techniques for example but Meditation can also be practiced with no religious relevance.

Meditation is a mental and occasionally physical activity that a person uses to separate themselves from their thoughts and feelings in order to become fully aware. It plays a part in almost all religions although many don’t use the word ‘meditation’ to describe their particular meditative or contemplative practices.

The BBC says Meditation ‘good for brain’.  Scientists say they have found evidence that meditation has a biological effect on the body.
